On Thursday May 27^th, the students of Conrad Fischer School earned a Fabulous Day of Fischer Fun for reading over 460,000 pages. They exceed the goal by more than 50,000 pages. The day included water games, a basketball tournament and a principal with pink hair. It was a well deserved reward for exceeding the school-wide reading goal of 410,000 pages since March 26^th.

 

 

Register your child for District 205 schools by June 1 by visiting http://tinyurl.com/2evxnt5.  You will need to enter your unique password (Snap Code) to complete the process. Please note that students who are not registered by June 1 will not be placed on class lists until all enrollment requirements are met.

The Conrad Fischer School library will be open on select Fridays to help support reading during the summer months. Mark your calendar and stop by to check out books for summer reading.  

 

The Fischer PTA is sponsoring a sale of School Supply Kits. Order information is attached to Friday Facts. Please return your completed order form by June 1st. These supply kits are not only a great convenience, but they are also a money saving option and all proceeds benefit the children of Conrad Fischer School.

 

Check your child’s backpack on Tuesday June 1 for their Student Progress Report and important test score information. Your children have all been assessed during this school year on the AIMSweb curriculum based measures in early literacy for kindergarten and first grade, as well as Reading fluency for grades 1-5. These graphs will show your child’s progress and indicate their current proficiency level. In addition, students in second grade were assessed on the MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) in both reading and math, and all students in grades 3-5 were assessed in mathematics.

 

These score reports are also included in your SPR folder. If you have any questions about your child’s report of progress, please contact the school office.

 

It is estimated that students who do not read over the summer can lose up to 25% of this year’s learning. Remember that elementary students are developing important academic skills and they may not be secure. In order to reinforce these developing skills, please encourage your child to read this summer. In addition, access to IXL will continue through the summer months. Each student has a unique log-in for this math site. All student SPR folders have a label with your child's log-in information.  Fifteen to twenty minutes of daily practice will prevent loss of skills in the area of math.

Each year the Elmhurst AAUW collects and organizes thousands of books for sale. Fischer will host the sale again this year, and the AAUW is providing a $1.00 coupon for every Fischer student. The coupon will be in the SPR folder, and will purchase up to four books. Many of these books are those that the kids want to read. Please mark your calendar and plan to shop at this sale to stock your shelves for the year ahead.
