Angela Bilancia
Welcome to 1st Grade!
¡Bienvenido a primer grado!
My name is Ms. Bilancia, and I could not be more excited to be teaching 1st grade this year. I graduated from Elmhurst College with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, specializing in teaching Second Language Learners. I grew up speaking both English and Spanish, so I could not be more excited to form part of the Dual Language Program here at Fischer. I see myself reflected in your children, and I cannot wait to support them on this journey. I am also a 2014 Golden Apple Scholar. To learn more about Golden Apple, click on the link below:
I am looking forward to a fantastic year!
First Grade is an Adventure!
Surprise Visit!
Homework:
Students will not receive homework that needs to be turned in. However, they are expected to read EVERY DAY for 15-20 minutes. They should fill out the reading log found in their Practice Binders. Books in their book baggies will be changed once a week. Even if they read all their books before we change them, please have them reread the books. Rereading helps students become better and more fluent readers. Please allow your child to struggle through some of those tough words as well. This process encourages students to use everything they know to sound out or decode the word. We want them to do this instead of always giving them the answer. It is a productive struggle :)
In addition, students should practice what is in their Practice Binders every night. We will change what is in the sheets as needed.
Thank you for your support!
Snacks:
We will have a time built into the day for a snack. We kindly ask that snacks are peanut free. Snacks should be a healthy option like any fruit or veggie.
