Dear students and families,
Welcome to kindergarten! My name is Ms. Delgado and I am very excited to be your child’s teacher this school year. I cannot wait to meet all of you! I’d like to take this time to share a little bit about myself: I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my family and friends. Some of my hobbies include playing soccer, going on bike rides and runs along Lake Michigan, and doing yoga. I also enjoy traveling and exploring new cities and countries.
I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (ILL!). Additionally, I received my master's degree in Dual Language Teacher Leadership in 2020! This year will be my 4th year teaching kindergarten at Fischer, and 6th year as an educator. Prior to D205, I taught 1st grade and 4th grade at a Dual Language school in Champaign, IL. I’ve also had the opportunity to teach English abroad in Verona, Italy for three months where I was able to work with students in grades K-5. I am excited to apply my knowledge and diverse teaching experiences, to help guide and continuously elevate my instruction this school year!
My philosophy of education is driven by three key components: diversity, inclusion, and social justice. I know, and value, the importance of being culturally and linguistically responsive and embrace this knowledge as assets in my instruction. A priority of mine is to create a safe space where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and where diversity is celebrated.
Students, while I may be your teacher, I am looking forward to learning from each of you! Every day, I will do my best to be my best self- as an educator, leader, advocate, and scholar- and the expectation is that you will also strive to be your best self. I am looking forward to growing and learning with you this school year!
If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me by either calling Fischer at (630) 832-8601 or sending me an email at ndelgado@elmhurst205.org. I am confident this year will be one of rigor, growth, and success!
Sincerely,
Ms. Delgado
